As one of the country’s leading art schools, Winchester School of Art is part of the University of Southampton, a Russell Group university and one of the UK’s top ten research-led universities. We are experiencing an unprecedented period of growth, expanding into new areas of study, while our flexible and dynamic art and design programmes are attracting increased demand. As part of our growth, in 2010 we established a collaborative operation in Dalian, PR China to offer undergraduate programmes in Fashion Design and Graphic Arts. Over 30 academic staff are currently teaching several hundreds of students at Dalian Polytechnic University. In this post you will be expected to work to the Chinese academic year and be eligible for A China Z visa.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Programmes to lead on the effective delivery of teaching, learning and assessment at the Dalian Campus. Fashion/Textile or Graphic Arts related experts with sound management experience are encouraged to apply.

You will have excellent communication skills and the capacity to teach in a multi-disciplinary environment, experience in managing programmes and coordinating a group of academic and support staff. You will have sound knowledge and experience in programme management, staff management, student learning experience enhancement, UK QA administration and academic leadership. You will be equally at ease in a lecture theatre and seminar setting , able to meet the needs of a large and diverse student body and to work with local colleagues with limited English (with interpretation assistance) abroad.

Whilst in China you will be provided with free on-campus accommodation, travel insurance, a basic medical insurance cover, and two return flights home per academic year during your employment. We are also responsible for assisting with your work visa applications where applicable.
