This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled and motivated Windows engineer to be an integral part of the fast paced and highly skilled, 3rd line, Enterprise Systems Management team (ESM) based out of our prestigious offices in Southampton City Centre.

Based in our Southampton City Centre office, you will be responsible for:

Shaping, maintaining and developing a large Windows server estate Shaping, maintaining and developing a large supporting infrastructure including VMWare, Hitachi storage and EMC Isilon amongst other technologies.

Working collaboratively with other teams and suppliers to achieve the highest quality in everything we do, ESM are the team responsible for the day to day operation of all of the University’s key IT infrastructure including Networking, Telephony, VMware and over 1,700 UNIX/Linux and Windows servers and a total of approximately 7PB of data storage.

If you can demonstrate several of following skills, we would like to hear from you:

Essential

Significant, demonstrable experience of systems administration of Windows Servers Demonstrable experience of VMware administration and management Demonstrable experience of Microsoft Active Directory and group policies Demonstrable understanding of enterprise level server and storage hardware

Desirable

Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, email threat management and spam mitigation Demonstrable experience in management and delivery of services via Office365 Demonstrable experience of configuration management via SCCM or DSC Experience supporting Linux and / or Solaris servers Scripting skills: PowerShell, VBS TCP/IP based networking including supporting services such as DHCP/DNS etc. Fibre Channel Switching / Fabric management / Storage administration Disaster Recovery tools and processes Knowledge of ITIL and project management methodologies

We expect that you will be in possession of a degree or equivalent level of professional qualification in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant technical discipline.  You will also need to be able to demonstrate problem solving abilities, be able to think clearly under pressure as well as being able to communicate with a range of colleagues.
