Description :

The chair of International macroeconomics strives to further advance and profile Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E)’s teaching and research towards high quality multidisciplinary, real, international macroeconomics.

The chair plays an important role in the U.S.E. bachelor programme. For example, third year electives like “Growth and Development” and “Environmental Economics” allow students to specialise in international macroeconomics. The same goes for the master’s programmes International Management and Economic Policy, with courses as 'Trade and Multinational Business’, ‘Multinational firms’, and ‘Energy and Environmental Economics’.

In terms of research, the chair of International macroeconomics is expected to fit into the U.S.E. programme of multidisciplinary research. We also expect the chairholder to play a stimulating role in promoting a stimulating research environment and to engage in activities aimed at attracting external research funding through grants and consulting. Additional duties will include supervision of (PhD and Post Doctoral) research resulting in theses and publications and the transfer of knowledge to society by organising events, such as conferences and workshops.
