Are you an enthusiastic and experienced researcher in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Health) with an interest in the relationships between urban sanitation, financial sustainability and resilience to future climate? Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge as part of a world class public health engineering team?  Do you want to design new approaches to sanitation which will change the lives of millions of people?

As part of the £785,000 project “Cost and Climate” project, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and led by Professor Barbara Evans, you will develop new knowledge about the health and welfare benefits of urban sanitation systems and services and their interactions with future climate in terms of resilience to future shocks and related welfare impacts.

Holding a PhD (or close to completion) in WASH or with equivalent field-research experience, you will join a multidisciplinary research team develop new knowledge about the health and welfare benefits and costs of exemplar urban sanitation interventions in rapidly-growing poor cities in the global south. This role will involve travel in Africa and South Asia which is likely to involve up to four periods out of the UK in each year, each for between two to six weeks.
