Description :

Surrey Business School (SBS) is an internationally recognised centre for management research and teaching. We are accredited by AACSB (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and by AMBA (the Association of MBAs). With a strong Senior Management Team led by its newly appointed Dean, Professor Ansgar Richter, we are ambitious in building a world-class interdisciplinary business school where innovative thinking is accelerated into action. Our particular strengths are in digital innovation and technological transformation, leadership and organizational psychology, sustainability and corporate finance/governance. Based in Guildford just outside of London, the University of Surrey is an outstanding international University with an enterprising spirit.

Surrey Business School is a mid-sized business school with approximately 100 academic staff members from around the globe, and a highly cohesive and collegial atmosphere. We are growing strongly, both in terms of our size, and in terms of the quality and impact of our work. Specifically, we put a heavy emphasis on research excellence. Our faculty regularly publish their research in top journals in Management (AMJ, AMR, SMJ, JIBS, Management Science, Operations Research, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, ETP, Organisation Studies, Human Relations, Research Policy), and in other leading journals in their fields of expertise (Journal of Finance, Review of Finance, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, etc.). Our colleagues have joined us from prestigious universities and business schools worldwide, with recent appointments including individuals who earned their PhD at institutions such as Harvard, MIT, LSE, and elsewhere.

We run a full range of programmes including undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes, as well as a PhD programme. Our programmes are renowned for their quality in terms of intellectual rigor, student experience, and employability. As a School, we are becoming increasingly active in executive education (both open-enrolment and tailor-made programmes). Through our Business Insights Lab, we work closely with companies and other partner organisations. In particular, we have strong links with many technology-oriented start-ups and established firms in London, Surrey, and the South-East of England in general. The Department of Finance and Accounting has core research strengths in corporate finance/governance and banking. The Department is a healthy mix of research active faculty and practitioner teaching fellows, the latter bringing a wealth of business experience. The Department has grown strongly in recent years, and will continue to do so in future, with further appointments already in plan. We thus seek to appoint a Lecturer (L) or Senior Lecturer (SL) inManagement Accounting(exceptional candidates from other areas of Accounting will also be considered).

The ideal candidate at the L level must be able to demonstrate a strong and clear individual research agenda leading to publications in top international journals. You would also be contributing to teaching in the field of Management Accounting. However, we will ensure that your teaching load is such as to provide you with sufficient time for research leadership. Conditions and compensation will be at internationally competitive standards and be commensurate with the appointee’s experience and expertise.

The ideal candidate at the SL level, should meet the requirements of the L level plus having at least two publications in world elite journals. Candidates with papers in the revise & resubmit stage in world elite journals will also be given very serious consideration. These candidates should also have experience in teaching core accounting courses and be able to demonstrate teaching excellence.
