Applications are invited for the above post based in the School of Health Sciences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day work on two studies:

the MENTOR study, funded by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (MENTal Health First Aid in the wORkplace; a feasibility study) the OPAL study, funded by the National Institute of Health Research (Occupational advice for Patients undergoing Arthroplasty of the Lower limb)

The aim of the MENTOR study is to seek to address gaps in the evidence base for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) by investigating its use and utility in addressing the mental health needs of the workforce in those organisations where at least one member of staff has attended the MHFA training.

The aim of the OPAL study is to develop a manualised occupational advice intervention, initiated prior to surgery, for employed and self-employed patients undergoing total hip or knee replacement. This is a multicentre feasibility study being led by South Tees NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust.

We are especially interested in candidates with previous experience of working with people with mental health problems; research involving employers/organisations; on-line surveys; qualitative research methods. The post-holder may be required to undertake some travel nationally e.g. to Norwich and Sunderland. Travel costs will be paid.

Candidates must have a BSc (or equivalent) in a health related area, and ideally have a PhD in a relevant field and some professional experience in health or social care.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 4 months.  The hours of work are 36.25 per week.
