Description :

The work of the Visa and Immigration Student Advice Service (VISAS Team) covers two broad areas:  

Visa and immigration guidance – assisting students and their dependants  Compliance and reporting – monitoring attendance and ensuring that the University and its students remain compliant with Home Office regulations. 

The VISAS Team works closely with the Student Services Centre, other colleagues in SAA (particularly Registry Admissions and Student Records), the International Office and other professional services.  We also have strong links with the Police Nationalities Office and liaise frequently with the Home Office. 

The successful candidate will be a highly organised team player with a good knowledge of the Higher Education sector and up to date knowledge of the UK’s immigration regulations with particular emphasis on those impacting students within Higher Education.

They will also be able to plan and organise their own work and that of a team; work well under pressure and to actively participate in the development of the service.  

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able communicate effectively and persuasively to staff, customers and other stakeholders.

This post includes the line management responsibility for the Registry reception team (two grade 2a administrative assistants).  The successful candidate will ideally have previous management experience.

This post is only open to EEA and Swiss nationals as the successful candidate will need to be cleared by the Home Office to handle Biometric Residence Permits (BRP).
