Description :

The Students’ Union (SU) at the University of Bath is looking for an experienced manager to oversee and continue the development of a range of services which are key to the student experience.

The post-holder will be required to manage the SU’s independent advice, information and representation service for students.  The service supports students in everything from advising on welfare, accommodation and health-related issues, to challenging academic decisions in the University. Where appropriate, the service also signposts students to relevant services in both the University and the local community. The post-holder will manage the advice team, ensuring the provision of high quality advice, as well as providing direct support to students when required.

This role also includes overall responsibility for recruiting and supporting volunteer student representatives, including those developing and delivering proactive awareness-raising campaigns. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting student-led diversity and support groups, as well as providing the lead on inclusivity, diversity and equality throughout the SU.

The post-holder will also oversee the management and development of the peer support area, which includes peer mentoring for all incoming undergraduates and peer assisted learning schemes, and the SU’s community strategy. This includes overseeing the work of the SU Community Co-ordinator, who works with students living on campus, and the Student Liaison Co-ordinator, who focuses on those who live in the city.

You will have a background and relevant qualifications in advice work including the management of an advice service. You must have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to communicate on all levels.  You will have experience of managing a team of staff and volunteers. You will have knowledge of the Students’ Union’s cause mission and values, and will have knowledge of HE academic and welfare issues.
