Information Services are looking to invest in two passionate and driven Senior Business Analysts. These roles will work directly with key stakeholders across the University to understand existing and future business requirements, systems and processes and help define how changes to services can be successfully and consistently delivered to add value to the learning, teaching, research and operational activities of the University. 

Job Responsibilities 

As part of the programme of change to improve services across the University, you will work in partnership with the Senior IT Change Delivery Managers to ensure that systems and business processes within IS are well aligned with the University’s strategy and priorities.

Business Analysts are involved from the initial concept of a service through to the final implementation; working with departments/schools to assess the impact of change, capturing, analysing and documenting requirements and supporting the communication and delivery of these requirements. Business Analysts are key to the delivery of effective services, which align to the strategic roles of the organisation and provide tangible benefits.

Core Skills

Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience Substantial experience of Business Analysis in a complex and fast-paced enterprise environment using a variety of methodologies and techniques (e.g. business cases, use cases, business process modelling, data modelling, user stories, UML) Experience of a range of different environments which make use of Agile and Waterfall project methodologies, as well as ITIL service creation Experience of analysing complex cross-functional business requirements, reviewing and improving business processes Experience and understanding of delivering change, including transition to business as usual and ensuring that support mechanisms are established Preferably an understanding of HE operations and interactions with external partner organisations and regulators Proven experience in building strong relationships across complex organisations, stakeholder groups and partner organisations Ability to identify, manage and resolve conflicts while building successful business relationships across a range of stakeholder groups Ability to shape a request for change and determine the correct BA approach Act as a BA role model, provide advice and guidance and share best practice with colleagues Ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of the maturity/capability of Business Analysis at the University

Communication

Self-motivated, dynamic individual who is able to engage, challenge and influence others, to develop and maintain collaborative working relations across IT/non IT departments Ability to lead and motivate others in the delivery of change Proven inter-personal & communication skills are essential. Ability to work effectively within a team of IT professionals Act as an ambassador for the BA role. Promote awareness to help colleagues within the wider university to understand the value to the organisation Passionate about the role of Business Analysis and motivated to make a significant contribution to the BA Community of Practice
