Applications are invited for the role of Business Operations Manager within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham. The role will be responsible for the management and monitoring of project finances for the Faculty of Engineering. 

The role holder will be responsible for monitoring monthly spend and forecasting staff and student cost commitments against all project codes for an agreed number of Research Groups. Identifying over/under spends and taking corrective action with the Principal Investigator and Research and Innovation will be essential. In addition, the role holder will be responsbile for approving all EU timesheets and reallocating investigator time to the appropriate project codes. The purpose of the role is to provide an underpinning operational contribution to the financial activities of the Engineering Faculty. The role-holder will be expected to work across a range of financial activities, providing support and advice to staff.

Candidates should be degree qualified (or equivalent) in relevant subject/relevant formal training, plus experience in a related role OR proven track record of extensive work experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical knowledge of a specific/specialised field of work.

Key skills will include financial awareness and budgetary experience. Knowledge of Agresso would be desirable. Detailed operational knowledge of University systems together with IT skills and database management would be perferred. Candidates will need to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and to work collaboratively with academic and administrative colleagues. An ability to define priorities and work under pressure is essential. Project management experience coupled with an ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team will be a necessity. 

Training will be provided for the successful candidate.

This is a full-time, permanent post, starting on 1st August or as soon as possible after. Flexibility with hours will be considered if the candidate was suitable.
