Description :

The University’s visionary Global Strategy 2020 puts students firmly at the heart of the University and makes them partners in their own education.

The Service Development Manager (Exams and Timetabling) will be based in the Service Development Team within Student Services and will ensure the delivery of a number of services associated with the student journey. The role holder will use their practical and theoretical knowledge of specialised fields of Academic Process and/or Service Development to support the delivery of high quality services to students and staff.

The primary focus of this role will be timetabling and the Timetable Manager element of roles at the University of Nottingham requires each individual to be responsible for the timetabling of a set of Schools. The role consists of building relationships with School contacts to enable timely and accurate data collection, scheduling all timetabled activities for their assigned Schools, and managing timetable changes for those Schools for staff and students.

Along with the main scheduling tasks the role also requires Managers to support colleagues at our China and Malaysia campuses, and undertake strategic projects such as assisting Schools in planning curriculum and advising on university space management matters.

The minor focus of the role will be examinations and the Manager element of the role will have responsibility for aspects of production and operation of University centrally scheduled exams.

Working within established policy and practices, analysis and judgement will be used to identify the best solution to differing problems and issues, offering recommendations for managing more complex situations. Role holders will contribute to customer service, continuous improvement and data management. There will be a need for liaison and the coordination of work activities across teams and departments across the University and with external bodies as appropriate.

Hours of work for this fixed-term, secondment cover post are 36.25 per week, normally 8.45 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday inclusive (with a one hour lunch break).  Given the nature of the role, there are times when annual leave may be restricted and/or with prior notice, additional working may be required.
