Description :

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced social worker who is looking for a new or perhaps additional opportunity to join our relatively small, forward-thinking, and ambitious team. You may be considering your first academic post or may already have some relevant Higher Education experience.  Most important is your commitment to, and capacity for, designing and implementing high quality social work education in order to prepare students for their practice as effectively as possible and also engaging creatively and enthusiastically with relevant CPD provision.

We offer qualifying social work courses (MSc Social Work and BSc (Hons) Social Work), a range of highly regarded CPD courses and AMHP and DOLS/BIA courses and enjoy excellent working relationships with local social work agencies and a network of service users and carers. We are recognised for our supportive, and yet challenging approach to working with students and have excellent tutorial systems and support mechanisms and processes in place.

In addition, we are proud of our increasing research strengths and welcome applications from potential colleagues who have demonstrable research capacity.  A key part of this particular post will be to contribute to teaching and assessment of students on the DOLS and AMHP courses and so experiences in some aspects of these practice specialisms and/or an evidenced ability to do so will be essential. In addition, you will contribute to relevant modules on the qualifying courses, drawing upon your practice expertise where possible and will tutor a group of students through the year.

You will need to demonstrate awareness of the key opportunities and challenges for this role and show an understanding of the key contemporary issues within social work and higher education. You must be an HCPC registered social worker and be educated to at least postgraduate level. Practice experience and Masters level education is essential.

The post is for a fixed term of 12 months. Interviews will be held during the week commencing 14th August and the anticipated start date would be as soon as mutually agreeable but in time for the start of the 2017-18 academic year.

The nature of the role means that successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check (further information can be found on the job description).

In return, the university offers a wide range of benefits, such as a generous annual leave package, including time off over the Christmas period, as well as childcare voucher and travel loan schemes.

Informal enquiries can made to Cath Holmstrom at c.holmstrom@brighton.ac.uk
