Applications are invited to the above role. The primary purpose of the role will be to undertake undergraduate teaching as a member of the Biology teaching team within an established programme of study. The role holder will ensure that the content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives of undergraduate Biology courses and will also contribute to curriculum development in the School.

Teaching duties will include the delivery of Lectures, Tutorials, Problem-based classes and Supervision of laboratory work, and the assessment of student performance in each of these. In particular, the role holder will work closely with an existing member of academic staff (Dr Bill Wickstead) and the role will include delivery of content in the following areas: Bioinformatics, Parasitology, Genomics and Computational/Statistical analysis of biological data, as well as supervision of experiments using common molecular cell biology methods. In addition to the delivery of existing content, the role holder will be involved in the development of new teaching and assessment practices in these areas and disseminating these practises within the School/Faculty.

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent in Biology or a related subject area or hold an equivalent professional qualification. Experience of delivery and assessment of teaching in a Higher Education setting is a requirement and it is desirable that candidates be supported by a Higher Education teaching qualification (or working towards). Candidates must have relevant experience in the specific areas of content to be delivered. Recent experience in module convenorship, use of Moodle (or similar online learning environment) and delivery of online assessments (e.g. with Rogo) are highly desirable.

This part time role (18.12 hours per week) is available fixed term from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2019.
