AMS will have the centennial celebration during the January 2020 Annual Meeting in Boston. Through a long career over half a century, Robert Dickinson is one of the most prominent scientists who have been closely associated with the growth of AMS and the fields it represents (i.e., atmospheric science and related fields). Prof. Dickinson has been a leader with exceptional service to our field, including AGU President, chair or member of numerous National Research Council committees, national and international program committees, and various AMS/AGU/AAAS committees, and Editor of Journal of Climate. For his exceptional achievements and leadership, Prof. Dickinson has received numerous national and international awards including the Rossby Medal and Honorary Membership from AMS as well as membership in both National Academy of Science and National Academy of Engineering. He received his education in the Boston area (B.S., Harvard; M.S. and Ph.D., MIT).
