Research Associate/ Fellow in Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing
The University of Nottingham seeks applications from highly skilled, self-motivated researchers for a post-doctoral position in Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM).
The post-doctoral researcher will be working on the UK’s highest pressure Cold Spray AdditiveManufacturing (CSAM) cell to study processing-microstructure-properties relationships of novel in-house manufactured metallic powders for additive manufacturing through a range of approaches involving finite element modelling for particle impact and multiple layer growth, computational fluid dynamics of the nozzles, additive manufacturing robot programming through slicer and characterisation of the deposits through EBSD, TKD and TEM.
The Centre of Excellence in Coatings and Surface Engineering, established in 2021 with multi- million EPSRC funding, hosts the UK’s highest pressure CSAM cell and the UK’s only high- power, high-efficiency axial injection Suspension Plasma Spray (SPS).
This is an exciting new opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher to demonstrate independence and advance cold spray research in preparation for their future academic career. The proposed research is leading-edge and is expected to yield high-quality publications. The researcher will join a vibrant, supportive, world-class research team in cold spray.
