Hourly Paid Lecturers and Placement Link Tutors (Primary Initial Teacher Education)

Primary Education Programmes

Lincoln Bishop University is seeking enthusiastic, experienced and highly effective education professionals to join our pool of Hourly Paid Lecturers and Placement Link Tutors supporting our Primary Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes.

We are looking for colleagues who are passionate about developing the next generation of teachers and who can contribute to a range of programme and partnership activities. Whether your expertise lies in school-based teacher development, mentoring, assessment or academic teaching, we would welcome your application.

These roles build on our established Placement Link Tutor model while offering opportunities to contribute more broadly across our Primary ITE provision.

About the Roles

These are casual, hourly paid appointments. The University is creating a pool of suitably qualified individuals from which work will be offered according to programme requirements, placement needs and individual expertise. There is no guarantee of hours.

Successful applicants may be invited to undertake one or more of the following activities:

Act as a Placement Link Tutor (PLT) for trainee teachers;Conduct school placement visits and quality assurance activities;Observe trainee teaching and provide developmental feedback;Mentor and support trainee teachers throughout their training;Deliver teaching sessions, seminars and workshops on Primary ITE programmes;Assess and mark academic assignments;Contribute to recruitment, outreach and partnership engagement activities;Participate in programme development, standardisation and professional development activities.

Partnership and Geographical Reach

Our Primary ITE programmes work closely with schools across Lincolnshire and the surrounding region. To support trainees and partner schools effectively, we are particularly keen to hear from applicants located across Lincolnshire and neighbouring areas. Geographical location will be considered alongside expertise and experience when allocating work.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

A relevant undergraduate degree;Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification;Significant and current experience within primary education;Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective classroom practice;Experience of supporting, mentoring or developing other practitioners;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;The ability to work collaboratively with trainees, school partners and university colleagues;The right to work in the UK with no relevant restrictions.

Desirable Experience

We would be particularly interested in applicants who have:

Experience of mentoring trainee teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or colleagues;Experience of school leadership, curriculum leadership or teacher development;Experience of observing teaching and providing constructive developmental feedback;Previous involvement in Initial Teacher Education, professional learning or school improvement activity;A commitment to high-quality teacher education and partnership working.

Rates of Pay (from 1 July 2026)

Standard Teaching Rate: £50.25 per hourPlacement and Work-Based Learning Rate: £39.68 per hourMarking and Non-Contact Rate: £25.12 per hour
