This post is jointly funded by two organisations in the School of Medicine: the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit (NCTU) and the NIHR Research Design Service East Midlands (RDS EM).

The successful candidate will be an experienced medical statistician with a strong background in the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of randomised trials and other well designed studies. The main purpose of the role is to provide statistical and methodological input throughout the research pathway, from the development of applications for submission to national funding streams, through operational delivery, to data analysis and the reporting of research findings. The post holder will be expected to provide advice on a range of research designs, and to support researchers within Nottingham and across the East Midlands region.

The role will also include the assistance with the delivery of short courses, workshops and seminars and require supervision / line management of other medical statisticians.

Candidates should have an MSc or equivalent in medical statistics or epidemiology, plus significant research experience in a clinical trials environment.They must be able to demonstrate practical involvement in all statistical aspects of design, conduct, monitoring, analysis and reporting of late phase randomised trials, including an appropriate track record of peer reviewed publications.

NCTU is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered Clinical Trials Unit (http://www.ukcrc-ctu.org.uk) within the University of Nottingham. The unit designs and conducts high quality national and international multicentre trials across a range of health topics. The Research Design Service provides advice and support to NHS staff and academic researchers in the East Midlands who are developing applications for applied health or social care research funding.

This is a full-time post (36.25 hours) offered on a fixed term contract. Applications from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum of 0.8 fte, 29 hours per week) will be considered.
