Applications are invited to the above role, which is funded by an Innovation Grant from Kidney Research UK to investigate the association of alpha-defensin variation with susceptibility to IgA nephropathy. The project involves typing approximately 1000 DNA samples from the UK Glomerulonephritis DNA Bank to establish copy numbers and subtypes of DEFA1A3repeats, to analyse the resulting data to impute haplotypes, and infer haplotype-level and repeat-level associations with DEFA1A3variation using transmission-based methods.

Candidates must hold a PhD or be near to completion of a PhD or equivalent in human molecular genetics or a closely related subject (recent submission of a PhD thesis will be acceptable).

This part- time 25.37h per week, fixed-term post is available from 1stNovember 2017 and will be offered for a period of 12 months.
