This is a new post offered on a two year fixed term contract or may be of interest to individuals on a secondment basis if supported by the current employer.

This post represents a new and exciting challenge and so we welcome interest from Project Officers who have experience of working within the Higher Education sector, ideally with a background of working closely with medical/health profession education.  The post holder will be expected to work closely with a wide range of academic, clinical and professional support colleagues as well as with professional bodies, student representatives and other groups and so the ability to communicate effectively in a variety of different modes and at varying levels is essential.

The Project Officer will be responsible for co-ordinating a number of different projects some of which will take place concurrently whilst others will be more sequential in nature, it is therefore imperative that a flexible approach to managing projects and/or defined pieces of work is managed effectively and efficiently. The initial priorities for this post holder will be in relation to the on-going review of the five-year MBBS curriculum and its assessment strategy and so in-depth working knowledge of medical education including the assessment of knowledge and clinical competency across such a five year MBBS curriculum is a distinct advantage. Experience of project management in the context of systems development and implementation is required. The number and scale of projects will evolve over the duration of this post and will result in an interesting and dynamic workload.  This is an important role for the School and will appeal to someone who is proactive and able to work to a very high degree of accuracy, whilst managing conflicting priorities.  It is essential that the Project Officer has excellent organisational skills, with an ability to quickly build strong relationships across multiple organisations.

If you are interested in this exciting challenge in the first instance please contact Alison Pettigrew, Head of Quality and Standards (alison.pettigrew@hyms.ac.uk) to arrange an informal discussion about the role and/or apply directly by the closing date of 20 February 2018.

The post is full-time, 37 hours a week on a fixed-term contract for 2 years and salary will be in the range £31,604 - £38,832 a year.

Closing Date: 20 Feb 2018
