An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Research Assistant with relevant research skills and experience to work on a study under supervision of the director of CaHRU funded by the charity, Gain: Guillain-Barré and associated Inflammatory Neuropathies’.


Based at the University of Lincoln, Brayford Campus the Research Assistant will primarily work on a study, ‘Exploring experiences of the illness, its care and achieving function following Guillain-Barre syndrome’. If you are the successful candidate, you will report directly to the centre director. You will also work closely with the CaHRU team and other academic collaborators on the study, and other research linked to the aims of the research centre.


You will be involved in all aspects of the research, including: obtaining necessary ethics permission; undertaking systematic literature review; recruiting patients to the study; and conducting interviews and a survey with patients. You will also be responsible for supporting preparation of reports, conference abstracts, presentations, and journal papers. Ideally you will have experience of systematic review, qualitative and survey methods. You should be knowledgeable of and proficient in the use of data analysis packages such as NVivo and SPSS. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well with members of the wider project team and CaHRU staff.

You will be qualified to at least honours degree level in a relevant subject (1st, 2.1 or equivalent). Previous appropriate methods training and experience in systematic literature reviews and conducting interviews and surveys is desirable. Good written and verbal communication is essential. Proven knowledge of writing for publication would be an advantage.

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.
