Professor of Architecture (A2566)

Lancaster University is seeking an inaugural Chair of Architecture to lead the development of a new School of Architecture with a distinctive interdisciplinary ethos, to be launched 2020. Based in the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) and building on our internationally respected Research Institutes, Architecture will become part of Lancaster’s highly ranked portfolio with its gold-rated teaching track record. Architecture in Lancaster will join LICA’s renowned research expertise, which engages design and the creative arts with science and technology. We are part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, which is ranked by THES within the top 50 worldwide.

You will have a substantial international reputation in Architecture and/or Architectural studies, be of Professorial standing, and possess a high level of expertise and knowledge in architecture practice, theory, history, and business engagement. We are looking for proven experience in architectural education and evidence of enhancing student experience and using research to stimulate teaching. Experience of engaging with industry partners and policy-makers will support our objective of contributing to urban and regional development, as well as new planned settlements in the region. Candidates will be self-starters, excited by the opportunity to start something from scratch, and with a collaborative approach.
