The School of Chemistry is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Associate/Fellow in heterogeneous Nanocatalysis post within the research group of Prof Peter Licence and Prof Andrei Khlobystov.

The successful candidate will be involved on design and test of heterogeneous catalytic reactions, including kinetic studies for reactions of industrial significance such as selective CO2 hydrogenation to formic acid, one-pot hydroaminomethylation of alkenes and selective hydrogenation of alkenes. This is a highly challenging project in heterogeneous nanocatalysis and requires excellence in contemporary practical skills, preferably demonstrated by your previous publication record.

Candidates must hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in Chemistry or related discipline. Proven ability in innovative and effective experimental research in catalytic reactions (details can be found in the job profile) using metal catalysts. Evidence of in-depth knowledge and experience in chemistry of ionic liquids. Excellent working skills with air-sensitive reactions (glovebox), chromatographic methods (GC) and high-pressure reactors. Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, both internal and external to the School.

This full time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 2.5 year and is available immediately.
