Recreation Assistant (N1941)

Lancaster University Sports Centre is looking to recruit a Recreation Assistant to assist in the provision of high quality sport and leisure services to customers.

You will be enthusiastic; self-motivated and committed individual and possess excellent customer care skills, whilst having a mature and responsible approach. Working with a strong committed team your duties will include supervising the swimming pool and ensuring that the Sports Centre operates to a high standard throughout the day.

Experience working in a customer focussed environment and a flexible approach to work is essential together with good personal organisation and communication skills.

Ideally, you will need to hold a current National Pool Lifeguard qualification (NPLQ). If you do not hold this qualification you will be given the opportunity to attend a training course and assessment at the Sports Centre. The test will run from Sunday 18th August – 22nd August with an exam on 24th August 2019. Employment will be subject to passing the NPLQ.

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be at least 16-years-old (as stated by the governing body RLSS UK) at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

Jump / dive into deep water

Swim 50 meters in less than 60 seconds

Swim 100 meters continuously on front and back in deep water

Tread water for 30 seconds

Surface dive to the floor of the pool

Climb out unaided without ladder/steps

A first aid certificate is desirable. You will be subject to a DBS clearance if successful.

We have three vacancies available, two full time and indefinite positions, plus one full time, fixed term position until March 2020.
