Applications are invited for a fully-funded PhD studentship in the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, starting on 1st October 2019 or shortly thereafter.  

The studentship is associated with the Nottingham component of the PETRAS project (www.petrashub.org), based in Horizon (www.horizon.ac.uk), so will focus on usable security in the home, including as it relates to emerging IoT technologies and the complex social dynamics in the home.

The studentship is for three years and includes a stipend of £15,009 per year and tuition fees (this is the UKRI rate for 2019/2020). Only UK and EU students can apply; international students are not eligible. 

Applicants are normally expected to have a first-class Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, with networking experience essential and knowledge of HCI methods helpful. The studentship will be under the supervision of Prof. Derek McAuley.
