Applications are invited for three Research Fellows to work full-time on an EU H2020and UKRI research projects. Successful applicants will contribute to research in the area of media processing communications and bioinformatics as follows:

The Research Fellows will be employed within the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. They will be expected to work in research domains that involve signal processing, future communication systems, video transmission over next generation Internet and 5G, content preparation and hybrid broadcast/broadband personalised video stream generation and distributionand bioinformatics. The research projects are collaborations with EU industrial institutes and the selected postdoctoral researchers are expected to publish their research work in appropriate conferences/journals and to report the progress of the project in terms of deliverables within the relevant timeframes. They are expected to lead international and national grant applications with the team of CVSSP.

All successful applicants must have an excellent mathematical and programming background, with a PhD (or about to complete) or equivalent research track record in media processing/communications or telecommunications or bioinformatics.  They must have extensive experience of C/C++ programming, communications, 5G, next generation internet technologies, video processing, video coding and cloud communications. Experience working with industry to communicate technical concepts and implement technology demonstrators with the potential for commercialisation is desirable.

CVSSP is one of the largest computer vision research centres in the UK focusing on vision, graphics, machine learning and signal processing, with 140 members comprising academic, research fellows and PhD students. The centre is supported as a national hub for research in audio-visual media and has strong collaborative links with the UK creative industries (film, games and broadcast).
