The relationship between music engagement, creativity and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults: longitudinal models and cross-sectional investigations

Supervisory Team:

Music therapy can result in positive changes to wellbeing and cognition in a number of mental health conditions, particularly for older adults. However, there is limited evidence to indicate how engaging with musical hobbies may be beneficial in children and younger, healthy adults.  This project aims to assess how engagement with music is related to wellbeing and resilience in children and young adults, and may be used to promote these areas of psychological health. Longitudinal modelling with existing datasets and cross-sectional experimental studies would be utilized to conduct this investigation.

Skills Required

Some knowledge of path modelling or latent modelling.Interest in wellbeing and resilience in adolescents and young adults.Experience running experimental studies with participants. Some experience with younger adults and adolescents preferred but not essential.
