A new exciting opportunity has opened in the Oncology Group. The work explores novel cancer biomarkers for detection and monitoring of disease in cancer patients. There is an urgent unmet need for new markers to diagnose and monitor cancer, and assess the effects of treatment. You will work closely with the academic lead on the project who is also an oncologist at St Lukes Cancer Centre , who will provide training as required. You will be responsible for generating, analysing and interpreting the data arising from the project and are expected to contribute to writing a final report at the project's conclusion. As a member of a larger team led by the academic, you will be expected to assist other researchers and students as time permits.
You will have a good BSc degree, and ideally have completed at least one year employment as a research assistant or technician. Candidates must be experienced in cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Ideally, candidates will have demonstrable experience of biological assays using human samples
The post-holder will be based in the Oncology Group laboratory in the Department of Experimental Medicine, Legget Building on the Manor Park campus at the University of Surrey. The University is located on a beautiful, leafy campus in Guildford, just 30 miles from London and benefitting from excellent rails and road connections.
