Head of School of Education (CSS513)

We are seeking an inspirational leader for the School of Education. The successful post-holder will be a member of the College Management Team comprised of Heads of School, and other senior academic and professional services staff, and will report directly to the PVC/Head of College of Social Science.

The School of Education at the University of Lincoln is a vibrant and intellectually stimulating centre of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research, and offers a full range of educational programmes at PGCE, undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels, which attract both national and international students.  The School aims to produce research that contributes to innovative educational policy and practice both regionally, nationally and internationally and our current research specialisms include: academic freedom; higher education policy; science education; SEND; educational technology; and a range of interests in pedagogy and curriculum. 

The new Head will lead the School and play a key role in shaping its future in line with the University’s and College’s broader strategies. The Head will be responsible for ensuring excellence in external assessments such as the REF, TEF and NSS, overseeing the growth of the School’s portfolio of programmes and research activities, by maintaining and building new academic and research partnerships, coordinating and facilitating its research and income generation activities, as well as enhancing the national and international reputation of the School.

The post would suit someone who would relish an opportunity to make a difference in an ambitious institution, and to take the School to the next level in its development. We are looking for a candidate with experience of leadership within their discipline and applications are particularly welcomed from those whose research, scholarship or academic practice interests fit broadly within existing areas of expertise.
