تفاصيل :

This is an exciting opportunity to join the research team in the Precision Imaging Beacon of Excellence and Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, who are driving the discovery and translation of new imaging tools that will transform non-invasive diagnosis, improve the outcomes for patients, and better evaluate the success of medical interventions.

Our Precision Imaging Clinical Fellowship scheme is aimed at early career clinical researchers at pre or postdoctoral level who are committed to a career in medical imaging research. The main aim of these 6 – 12 months fellowships is to provide promising candidates academic training and support at an early stage of their clinical academic career. During the fellowship, fellows are expected to undertake a defined proof of concept or pilot study researching clinical populations, experimental medicine approaches, big data analysis or back-translated laboratory research. To achieve this, project topics are expected to be aligned with the current clinical imaging research portfolio at Nottingham. Fellows will participate in a portfolio training programme to support the transition to an externally-funded fellowship or external grant application. Supervision and individual mentorship will be offered by a range of world-leading experts in imaging, clinical research, mathematical modelling and computer science.

Strategic areas

Candidates are sought with background and strong interest in mental health or other long-term health conditions as part of the Imaging research portfolio within the Precision Imaging Beacon, Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre,  the Institute of Mental Health or the Versus Arthritis Centre (Pain Centre, Sports and Exercise and Musculoskeletal Ageing).

Fellowship offer:

Flexible funding full-time or part-time over typically six to 12 months (to the maximum equivalent to one year full-time clinical fellowship) designed to account for the variation in career paths and stages in clinical and academic training. Salary will match the equivalent clinical training grade and dependent on academic experience. Extensive career development support, including individual mentoring and participation in the Fellowship Application and Support Training (FAST) scheme. Pump-priming research support of £10,000. The opportunity to spend up to 3 months abroad to develop international collaborations.

Eligibility: This scheme is aimed at the most promising medical or non-medical clinical researchers. To allow for variations of career paths within clinical disciplines, no fixed eligibility rule has been set on postgraduate research experience, but evidence for academic excellence is required. Candidates will be assessed on their quality, potential and track record, relative to their career stage.
