The Department for Children and Young People’s Health is seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Children’s Nurse to fill our post of Senior Lecturer. The post is part time role working 2 days per week and is fixed term for 12 months.

The university supports the education of Qualified In Speciality (QIS) Neonatal Nurses through a specialist course that is part of the Professional Practice post registration provision, this will be the main focus of this role.   It will encompass the coordination of the modules that complete this course to educate neonatal nurses of the future from across a wide geographical area.  As a Senior Lecturer you will need to be highly motivated, well organised and passionate about delivering exceptional evidence based teaching. You will provide academic leadership to those working within programme areas and will be responsible for managing taught courses. You will develop and apply inspiring teaching techniques and content which foster enthusiasm, understanding and critical enquiry amongst students.   You will work closely with colleagues, clinical experts and education partners from many NHS trusts to take this key role forward.  Providing pastoral support and enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University is essential to your role. You will be supported to develop research, enterprise and scholarly activities which are integral to the role. 

Applicants must hold a first degree and current registration with the NMC. You must have a neonatale qualification and 5 years neonatal experience.  Experience of teaching either in clinical practice or a HEI setting with is essential.
