Nonlinear Optical Conversion

The Optoelectronics Research Centre is a world-leading hive of activity with over 200 staff and students working on cutting-edge research to provide innovative solutions for real life problems in manufacturing, communication technology, defence, health care, renewable energy and the environment. Our team specialises in the development and manufacturing of novel optoelectronic devices for applications in quantum technology, integrated optical sensors and laser optics.

This post will undertake research on nonlinear optical conversion towards the deliverables of the EPSRC-funded Quantum Technology Hub in Quantum Enhanced Imaging (QuantiC) project under the supervision of the award holders. Part of the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme, the Quantum Imaging Hub’s vision is to work in partnership with industry to translate our world-leading discovery science into revolutionary imaging systems that will benefit the UK economy across commercial, scientific and security sectors.

To be successful you will have a *PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in optics, lasers physics. You will have demonstrable fabrication skills and be willing to conduct research independently as well as part of a team. Experience in nonlinear optics would be highly desirable.

You will support the work of junior staff and PhD students. 

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
