The Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis Research Versus Arthritis is hosted by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUHT), but the Directorate has recently moved to the University of Bath. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, professional and well organised Centre Administrator, who will play a key role in ensuring that the Centre and the consortium work effectively. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive and efficient administration and office management service for the new Director, but also work closely with the Centre Manager (based at NUHT) and the co-Directors based at the partner institutions.

The Centre is delivered in collaboration with Versus Arthritis and a consortium of six Universities: Bath, Leeds, Loughborough, Nottingham, Oxford and Southampton. We work with sports representatives, patients, the public and carers, in order to improve the understanding of the effects of sport and exercise on joint health and osteoarthritis. It is therefore important that the Centre Administrator has the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with researchers, colleagues, health professionals, academics and other outside agencies on a face to face basis, telephone or email contact in a concise and informative manner. You will have outstanding organisational and communication skills with a responsible and flexible approach to workload, while being effective in meeting priorities and deadlines. You will be able to maintain clear and accurate records and be self-motivated, friendly and use your own initiative.  Event management and financial awareness forms part of this role. You will be required to provide administrative support to a number of key research projects and initiatives, including communication with patients, data entry and database management.  On occasion you will be expected to present complex information to a variety of audiences and collate Centre metrics and contribute to external reports.

If you wish to make an informal and confidential enquiry about this post, please contact either the Centre Director, Professor James Bilzon,  or the Centre Manager, Bronya Norton.

Please note that this a full time 36.5 hours, fixed term position. Ideally starting the 07 September 2020 until the 31 December 2022.

We value, promote and celebrate inclusion, challenging discrimination and putting equality, diversity and belonging at the heart of everything we do. We aim to be an inclusive university, where difference is celebrated, respected and encouraged. We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and students, so we encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, particularly from under-represented groups such as Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and disabled people, and value the positive impact that will have on our teams.

We have made a positive commitment towards gender equality and intersectionality receiving a Bronze Athena SWAN award, and we are actively working towards a Silver award. We are a family-friendly University, with an increasingly agile workforce, we are open to flexible working arrangements. We’re also proud to be a disability confident employer and are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments you may require.

Closing Date: 06 Jul 2020
Type: Management, Specialist and Administration
