Quiz & Karaoke Host (SU0078)

This is an exciting and fun opportunity to host and coordinate our weekly Quiz and Karaoke events in both Sanctuary and Asylum.

We are seeking a dynamic and confident person who has exceptional communication skills and can clearly and enthusiastically speak and project on a microphone.

If you will be a student at the University of Hull for the 2024/25 academic year, then you are and ideal candidate for this role.

Hull University Students’ Union is a Charity, with a large trading subsidiary which included SPAR and JD Wetherspoon; our primary purposes are:

Advancement of education, promoting the interests and welfare of students during study and representing, supporting and advising students.Being the recognised representative channel between students and the University of Hull and other representative bodies.Providing social, cultural sporting, recreational activities, and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development of its students.

Our Trading Subsidiary provides a range of services for students including, a Supermarket, a pub, a nightclub, coffee and food outlets.

About the Role

You will co-ordinate and host our Quiz and Karaoke events with confidence and enthusiasm.You will play a key part in audience participation and engagement encouraging them to be as involved as possible.Being authoritative, when necessary, i.e. to settle disputes on answers and keeping the room in control.You will need to set up the equipment each week and be competent in operating a laptop to control and operate software, full training will be given on this.Working closely with the Event Manager to make sure everything is set for the evening in advance.

Desirable

Previous experience of using lighting control and PA systemKnowledge and awareness of Health and Safety procedures.
