Are you interested in the operational side of events? Do you want to be part of the backstage action of our club nights and live events?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Sound and Lighting Technician to join our entertainments team to help run our event programme in Asylum and Sanctuary Bar.

The role will involve working events within the venues and having sole responsibility for the delivery of the sound and lighting for them.

About the Role

Manage the set-up of technical equipment including responsibility for PA, lighting of all Hull University Student Union events from Bongo’s Bingo, to general club nights like Tower and society performances. Support the management team or subcontractors running the technical elements of a show.  Deliver excellent customer service and customer management, at all times  To keep the stage and backstage area clean and tidy and in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines.Assisting with room set ups, which may involve some heavy lifting.

About You

To excel in this role, you will have the drive and ambition to succeed and have sound knowledge and experience within the event industry Lighting, sound and power.

Essential:

•                 Ability to work at heights when required

•                 Ability to lift heavy objects safely when required

•                 Must be flexible to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends.

•                 Previous experience of using lighting control and PA systems

•                 Good IT Skills

•                 Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety procedures

•                 Confidence to liaise with production teams and students

•                 Remain calm whilst working under pressure.     

•                 Be able to prioritise duties

•                 Be able to work unsupervised in a busy environment

•                 Be confident and self-motivated

•                 Welcome and embrace change, with a positive attitude

•                 Maintain excellent time-keeping and attendance

•                 Be professional at all times

•                 Always be a good team player

•                 Be able to communicate well with people of all levels
