INTERNAL VACANCY
This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.
Are you an experienced project professional who enjoys working across multiple projects, bringing people together and helping ambitious programmes deliver? Would you like to play a key role in major research and innovation programmes developing the technologies that will shape the future of electrification and propulsion?
We are looking for a Senior Project Officer to join the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham and support a significant portfolio of strategic research, innovation and translation programmes. The portfolio includes exciting programmes in aerospace, defence and future transportation, together with major regional innovation activities.
Based at Jubilee Campus, you will work across an internationally recognised electrification research and innovation environment, including the Power Electronics and Machines Centre (PEMC), the University's Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centre (DER-IC) capability and Nottingham Drives Specialist Services (NDSS), alongside activities within the Zero Carbon Translation Centre. Together, these bring research, development, manufacturing, testing and specialist industrial services together to support the development of future electrification and propulsion technologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface between research and real-world technology development. You will work with leading academics, engineers and researchers, together with major industrial, government and regional partners, supporting projects taking emerging technologies from research through development, demonstration and towards industrial application.
Working closely with the Principal Investigator and project teams, you will help coordinate the effective delivery of a varied portfolio of projects. This will include project planning and administration, monitoring milestones and actions, financial and budget reporting, governance and funder reporting, coordinating project meetings and events, and supporting engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
You will also provide senior project and portfolio coordination support to the Principal Investigator, including in their role as Director of the Zero Carbon Translation Centre. You will help maintain oversight of key activities across the portfolio, coordinate information and actions between project and technical teams, prepare project and financial information to support decisions, and ensure that agreed actions are followed through.
The role will also support the development and mobilisation of new projects and funding opportunities, and will work across a mix of strategic research programmes, technology development projects and industry-facing specialist services. As many of our programmes involve national and international partners, you should also be prepared to undertake occasional travel within the UK and overseas for project meetings, partner engagement and dissemination events.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities across multiple projects. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience of managing, monitoring or administering projects, and experience of working with budgets and delivering agreed outputs. You should be confident working with a wide range of colleagues and external stakeholders and able to use your own initiative to progress activities and resolve issues.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) or have relevant experience in project management and reporting. Experience of electrification, research or innovation programmes and recognised project management training would be advantageous.
