LaTeX diff: compare two LaTeX files
Old version
New version
How to use
Paste the old and the new LaTeX source in the two boxes, or load or drop the files.
Click “Generate the diff”. In the preview, deleted text is red and struck through, and added text is blue and underlined.
Download the .tex file with “Download .tex” and compile it with pdflatex, xelatex or lualatex (twice if the document has references) to get a PDF with the changes marked, or use “Open in Overleaf” to compile it online.
Good to know
The generated file always compiles if your new version does: changes in commands, equations, citations, references and environments are not marked in it, but the preview shows every change.
Deleted commands and equations are kept as comments starting with %DIF <.
A few lines defining the markup (packages ulem and color) are added before the beginning of the document.
Nothing is uploaded, except when you use “Open in Overleaf”, which sends the result to Overleaf.
