The theme spans units of analysis, research approaches, theoretical lenses and topics as well as sectors. It promotes wider social sciences and humanities perspectives on challenges and questions related to the future of our production and consumption networks. We encourage the submission of abstracts that straddle discipline boundaries and explore the theme of “sustainability as flourishing” in the context of supply chains, value chains and networks from different standpoints. Novel theoretical and methodological approaches are encouraged.
In the age of ‘climate emergency’, sustainability demands innovation and urgency. We wish to apply this to the format of the conference, to dismantle and reassemble some of the normal structures in order to experiment with alternative forms. Some of the obvious functions of a conference are to socialise, develop initial research ideas or help get work ready for publication, and more generally advance fields of research. We wish to provide a rich environment for coming together and sharing ideas.
