ASA2020 — ALGEBRAIC STRUCTURES AND APPLICATIONS

In the modern development of Mathematics the study of algebraic structures such as rings, groups, modules, algebraic varieties, categories... has played a fundamental role. Their impact is visible in several mathematical disciplines, including Topology, Geometry and Analysis, but also in non-mathematical ones, such as Theoretical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Biology, Computer Sciences, Data Transmission, etc. The aim of the meeting is to show the most recent advances on several domains, such as Ring and Module Theory, Group Rings, Homological Algebra, Representations Theory and Coding Theory, where algebraic structures are the basis of their development. The meeting is also thought as a moment to create a good atmosphere and an excellent environment for discussions on open problems and new perspectives in the area of Algebra. The meeting is organized by the Algebra research group at the University of Murcia which has been dealing with algebraic structures in their daily life for a long time. Their contributions have been important in topics such as Group Rings, Ring and Module Theory, Homological Algebra, Representation Theory and Coding Theory, just to name some of the topics of most interest to its members.

This meeting is also a closing step of the research project "Rings and algebras: their groups of units, modules, homology and applications" of the Murcia Algebra Group. This project has been funded by the Fundación "Séneca" of Murcia within its program "Units and Groups of Scientific Excellence in the Region of Murcia".
