Development and aging are seemingly opposing processes that define how cells, tissues and organs assemble and maintain their optimal functions over the entire lifespan of an organism. Recent advances support the notion that a wide range of fundamental biological processes early in life also affects organismal survival at old age. The proposed workshop aims to deepen our understanding on how developmental mechanisms are functionally linked to longevity assurance pathways promoting health-span or to age-related diseases.
