Lying at the intersection of the fields or organic and inorganic chemistry, the organometallic chemistry subdiscipline has had a profound impact on how chemists think about molecular structure and bonding. Beyond fundamental discoveries, organometallic chemistry has found applications in organic synthesis, industrial catalysis, medicine, materials chemistry, and energy-related fields. The importance of the field is reflected in the recent award of three Nobel Prizes (2001, 2005, 2010) to nine organometallic chemists. The 2023 Organometallic Chemistry GRC will emphasize cutting edge developments in basic science and applications that address societal needs related to energy, sustainability, and climate change. Major themes of the conference include ligand design, main group and transition metal chemistry, catalysis, and applications of organometallic chemistry to organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, and solid state materials.
