This exciting opportunity at the Brunel Centre involves a new Data Analyst joining a ground-breaking initiative at the forefront of regional economic research and development.
Embedded in a collaborative partnership between UWE Bristol, the University of Bath, and Futures West, and funded by the Research England RED Fund, the Brunel Centre will serve as a vital hub for economic data, research, knowledge exchange and policy innovation.
You will work as a Data Analyst in the Brunel Centre team to generate real-time and long-term insights on critical economic challenges for the West of England. A major part of your work will be to help design, develop and maintain a new, cutting-edge, publicly-accessible Data Hub and Observatory for the region’s economy.
Your role includes building and maintaining a modern Data Hub for the region's economy. You will:
identify, collect and migrate data from a range of economic, social and environmental data sources manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data, and manipulate and link different data setsapply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of spatial data mapping tools)summarise and present data in different formatscontribute data analysis to a variety of research projectsAbout youWe are looking for a dynamic data analyst with a passion for applying data analytical tools and techniques to understand complex economic issues.
You will hold a degree and postgraduate qualification in data science, mathematics, economics, or a related disciplinary field utilising statistics and advanced quantitative methods.
You will be proficient in data analysis tools, such as Microsoft Excel and SQL, programming languages like Python and R, and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI. You will have knowledge and experience in data storage and management.
You thrive in collaborative environments and have the communication skills to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
