The role

The post holder will be responsible for engaging with both new and existing users to fully exploit the capabilities of the UK National Ion Beam Centre (IBC) at the University of Surrey. They will play a key role in developing and enhancing the facility’s technical capabilities to meet evolving user requirements. In addition, the post holder will actively engage with potential users and industry partners to attract new business opportunities and expand the IBC’s user base.

The role will also involve the operation of ion implantation facilities and providing technical support in the development and execution of user irradiation and implantation projects. The post holder will be expected to represent the IBC at scientific and technical meetings, presenting research outcomes, promoting facility expertise, and contributing to the Centre’s national and international visibility.

About you

Working with users and other Facility Liaison Fellows, develop understanding and knowledge of the IBC user base with a view to recognising future needs/ “direction of travel” relevant to #1;Under the guidance of the Head of Ion Beam Processing, develop the ion beam systems, technologies and capabilities within the IBC in order to maintain its position as a state-of-the-art facility;Lead  in-house Quality Assurance programAs appropriate, promote the IBC facilities and capabilities to relevant parties.Attend relevant symposia, conferences and industry gatherings in order to promote the IBC, as well as ensure that the IBC is at the forefront of its field.Write  high-quality implant reports to usersPublish journal articles.
