Description :

Are you a well organised and adaptable individual with a strong customer service orientation? Do you want to join a team committed to supporting infrastructure activities helping our staff and students?

Leeds Institute of Medical Research (LIMR) is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable individual to join a dynamic, multi-skilled infrastructure team committed to ensuring the efficient operation and enhancement of University facilities on site.

The successful candidate will work flexibly across University buildings located on the St. James’s University Hospital campus, or within associated Faculty areas on the main University site. For this role, you should have good literacy and communication skills. While no prior experience of working in a laboratory support environment is required, a willingness to learn is crucial. You need to be enthusiastic about the role and have a can-do attitude.

This is a varied and hands-on role, with team duties encompassing routine operational tasks such as reception cover, handling deliveries, waste management, and glassware processing on rotation. You will also provide occasional support to the Senior Laboratory Managers and Area Coordinators, contributing to the smooth running of laboratory support infrastructure.

As the first point of contact at reception, you will represent the University with professionalism and warmth—welcoming staff, students, and visitors, and ensuring a positive and lasting first impression. As you will have daily contact with academic staff, support staff, researchers and students you should have an approachable and professional manner, along with strong teamworking skills. Basic computer literacy with attention to detail is required, and knowledge of safe manual handling techniques are also necessary (training will be provided).
