Description :

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a joint institute between Lancaster University and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU). The campus is located in a remote seaside town one hour south of Weihai city in Eastern Shandong province and situated within the ‘Nanhai New District’ along the Southern coastline of the Shandong peninsula. The campus and neighbouring community is situated in an area with a fast-growing reputation for clean air, golden beaches and ecological parkland. The campus is served by an adjacent bus station, as well as a high-speed railway station connecting Nanhai to Qingdao in 90 minutes. Weihai airport, which connects domestically and internationally, is less than an hour away.

Following a period of probation, you will be employed on an indefinite contract and be based on the campus in China for two semesters, which are of 16 weeks duration. There will be a provision for furnished accommodation in China, international expatriate medical cover and two return flights included in the remuneration package. The accommodation is conveniently located near the teaching campus with amenities nearby.

You will have the opportunity to teach accounting and finance modules which is part a four-year degree programme for Chinese students, leading to a dual award from both institutions in Accounting & Finance and Business Studies.

You should focus primarily on delivering high-quality teaching across core financial accounting and auditing areas, with the flexibility to cover related accounting modules as needed. Candidates with experience teaching advanced financial accounting, relevant professional or industry experience in accounting, or recognised accounting professional qualifications would be especially welcomed.

The role places a strong emphasis on effective pedagogy, clear and rigorous assessment design, the integration of digital and information systems perspectives where appropriate, and meaningful student support. The postholder will also contribute to programme development, quality assurance, and wider academic responsibilities within the Accounting & Finance programme.

You should have a PhD in the relevant areas and with some years teaching experience in Higher Education. For those who have not undertaken a teaching qualification there will be an opportunity to work towards a post graduate certificate in Educational Practice leading to a Fellowship in the Advanced Higher Education Academy.

Experience of teaching international students, ideally Chinese students, plus proficiency in the use of interactive technologies is essential. Successful candidates must be available to commence in the role by the latest 2nd March 2026.
