Hourly Paid Lecturer Opportunities – Professional Practice

The University is seeking to appoint well-qualified and versatile Hourly Paid Lecturers to teach across our Professional Practice programmes. 

These programmes include Education in Practice, Early Childhood Education in Practice, Teaching and Learning, Childhood and SEND, all of which are work-based degrees taught predominantly to mature learners.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of applied, practice-focused higher education at Lincoln Bishop University. Successful candidates will deliver teaching at Levels 4–6, supporting students who work across early years, primary, secondary, special education, alternative provision, and wider children’s services. Experience of online and evening teaching, as well as supporting widening participation learners, would be advantageous.

As a minimum, an Hourly Paid Lecturer must have:

The right to work in the UK with no relevant work restrictionsAn honours degree or appropriate equivalent professional qualificationStrong verbal and written communication skillsRelevant and/or recent professional or academic experience within education, early childhood, SEND, teaching and learning, or wider children’s workforce settings

The University may appoint experienced professionals, industry specialists, or academics from other institutions to deliver specific teaching where appropriate. A DBS check and verification of professional membership may be required if relevant to the role.

Rates of pay (from 1st August 2025):

Standard Teaching Rate: £49.56/hourPlacement & Work-based Learning Rate: £39.13/hourMarking/Non-contact Rate: £24.78/hour
