This role is only available to undergraduate students at the University of Leeds looking to take a year in industry as part of their degree.

Would you like to join a dynamic and committed team and gain valuable experience by supporting activities and projects that drive sustainability within the University and the wider community?

Sustainability sits at the heart of the University’s strategy. With an ambitious Climate Plan and commitment to embed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across all that we do, this is an exciting opening to join the Sustainability Service.

Through our strategic approach to sustainability, we draw on the diverse expertise of our community, requiring significant engagement and collaboration internally and externally, to facilitate behaviour and process change. We are looking for two student interns to join our team for up to 12 months from August 2026. We are looking for a proactive and creative individual to assist us in delivering key projects and to embed sustainability across the University.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a large institution at an exciting time of change, where sustainability plays a key strategic role. You will be part of a team that is leading the way in sustainability initiatives across the Higher Education sector. You will gain insights into how to implement and embed sustainability into a complex institution, develop contacts throughout the University and have an opportunity to influence change on many levels. You will also develop vital employability and transferrable skills, essential for your future career.

You will be a penultimate year undergraduate student at the University of Leeds who wishes to take a year in industry as part of your degree. You will have a passion and enthusiasm for sustainability, experience of project delivery, an ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.
