Interviews expected to be held on the 13th and 14th May 2026

Applications are limited to existing University of Leeds Students who will be students in the Academic year 2026_2027

The Learning Development Team provides academic skills support to undergraduates and taught postgraduates. Peer support has proved to be a powerful tool in our work, especially in academic writing. We are recruiting Academic Writing Mentors for the Writing Space project to provide undergraduate students with a space to develop their writing skills in a peer supported environment. You will be working alongside other Mentors from across the university and Learning Advisors to facilitate daily Writing Space drop-in sessions, providing guidance and mentorship to other students as they develop their writing skills. You do not need to be an expert academic writer to apply, all we ask is that you are a student at the University of Leeds and are passionate about supporting your peers. Full training will be provided to all Mentors and you will be continuously supported by members of the Learning Development Team and encouraged to develop your own skills.

Each Academic Writing Mentor will work a number of 3-hour shift throughout the year (term time only) and attend mandatory training sessions in September.
