We are seeking a dynamic research officer to join our innovative team. This is your chance to make a real impact on the future of sustainable agriculture.

Agriculture plays a crucial role in feeding, but it is also a major source of environmental challenges, particularly greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). The University of Brighton is leading an existing project developing a GHG emission calculator for agricultural products based on dynamic and live 5G data. This will be used for growers to report emissions and identify hotspots for improvement.  

In your new role, you will collaborate and support in ground-breaking research on lifecycle analysis (LCA) tool development for agricultural products based on live 5G data. Your role will involve modelling complex lifecycle frameworks, such as system boundaries, functional units, and system models, and lifecycle inventory assessment for processes using advanced platforms like OpenLCA and ecoinvent. We are seeking applicants with a strong background in LCA for agricultural products.  

To be successful in this role, you should have:

A degree preferably in engineeringSufficient, up-to-date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the Lifecycle Cycle Analysis (LCA)/carbon accounting/environmental impact modellingSome research experience in research methods and techniques in LCA/carbon accounting/environmental impact modellingProficiency in the use of Lifecycle analysis software, such as OpenLCA and ecoinvent databaseExperience in LCA modelling in the agricultural context
