We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join two dynamic research groups working with Plasmodium berghei. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys handsâon laboratory work, values accuracy, and is keen to develop specialist skills within a supportive research environment. You will join a highly skilled and supportive technical team who work together to deliver highâquality research support across the School.

You will provide essential dayâtoâday technical support within busy research laboratories, helping to ensure that experiments run smoothly and that researchers have the resources they need. Working under the guidance of senior colleagues, you will carry out routine molecular biology and tissue culture procedures, maintain laboratory buffers and stocks, and keep accurate, wellâorganised records.

You will also take part in routine mosquito breeding experiments and contribute to research meetings, gaining valuable experience in parasitology and vector biology. As part of the wider technical community, you will support researchers, students, and fellow technicians, offering guidance and basic training in laboratory techniques and equipment use.

A key part of the role will be maintaining stock levels, preparing work areas, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessments. You will work flexibly as part of a team, using your initiative to manage your workload and respond to changing priorities.

We are looking for someone who:

Works accurately and methodically, even under pressure.Is enthusiastic, adaptable, and keen to learn new techniques.Has excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of health and safety.Can use their initiative to solve routine problems and knows when to seek support.Is comfortable lifting and moving laboratory consumables and equipment.Has experience working in a laboratory environment.

This is a Fixed Term role ending 31st December 2027. Your working hours will be 21.75 hours per week.
