Bring your expertise in analytical and numerical spray modelling to the University of Brighton’s Advanced Engineering Centre, where you’ll play a key role in advancing cutting-edge two‑phase flow research and contributing to impactful scientific outcomes.
As a Research Fellow in Spray Modelling, you will design, develop and deliver research under the umbrella of ‘Next generation spray simulation model (NGSSM)’. This project is supported by the UK Research & Innovation’s flagship Future Leaders Fellowship scheme.
We are looking for a motivated researcher with a PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in applied mathematics, physics or engineering, and strong, up-to-date specialist knowledge in analytical and numerical spray modelling and machine learning. Experience with OpenFOAM or similar CFD tools, scientific programming, and (ideally) the Fully Lagrangian Method will be key to your success. You will bring excellent communication skills, a commitment to continuous professional development, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team. Research Fellows may also be expected to contribute to the teaching and/or consultancy activities in order to ensure continuous development of knowledge in the subject area.
We offer a supportive research environment, where you can join external networks to share information and identify potential sources of funds. The role follows standard university academic working expectations and provides access to extensive researcher development training and internal networks that will support your professional growth.
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment until 31/01/29, however we welcome applications form candidates seeking to job share.
